Why the Crafter’s Community Fund was Started

The idea for the Crafter ’s Community Fund began when the My Craft Corner staff was researching guilds.  We were looking at the guilds in the Gulf Coast area, so devestated by Hurricane Katrina, and we asked, “Where are these guilds now?  Where are the craft artisans who made up the membership of these guilds?  Are they still crafting?  And, do they have what they need to fulfill their creative goals?“

More recently, California was devastated by fires and, again, we asked the same questions.  In the ashes of those homes were crafting tools, cherished metal scraps, looms, beloved stashes of yarn and quilting quarters.  The list is endless because the list of crafting materials and tools represents the scope of creativity within the whole crafting community.

My Craft Corner is committed to the support of crafters because, as crafters ourselves we have a deep understanding of the need for creative outlet - especially during difficult times.  Knowing this it was only natural that we decide to offer support to those in need in the form of a community fund.

Because of our dedication to supporting the crafting community, as the business grows, so will our donations to the fund. As funds are distributed, we will make updates on where the funding is being used and the positive effect it is having on people ’s lives.

Presently, My Craft Corner donates a portion of its revenue to the Community Fund.  Since this is not a non-profit, if you want to donate money to the fund you cannot claim your donation as a tax deduction, but you can claim it on your list of good deeds! We also will consider material and tool donations for distrubtion to those in need.
